When I do math homework I feel relaxed.

If I could not do math homework I would be a little sad because it's the easiest and funnest homework to me.

Chapter 1

1. What problems or conflicts are presented in chapter one? Tao needing to find a rabbit is an obvious one; identify at least two more (not having anything to do with the rabbit!).

I can't believe that Tao would even ask such a question:if he could hunt with a wolf dog? Those wolf dogs are evil spirits. I don't know where he got the idea to hunt with those demons. And for all I've done for him I let him live with Kala, eat our food, and I didn't punish him harshly when he didn't bring the rabbit. It is the law of the clan and he must live by it.

​ ​Tao's mother Vedra is caring,brave,and creative. She's caring because Kala said "But your mother would not let you go." She was brave because "She fought like a cave lion." so she refused to give you up. She was creative because she was always making jewelery and things for people. That's how Vedra was caring,brave,and creative.

Ram was easier to draw because he was right in front of him and he had to try to remember how horses looked.

Chapter 7

I disagree with Graybeard because even though drawing is a taboo it's the only thing Tao is good at and likes.
2. What about if someone today told you about the thing you most love to do that, "It is taboo. Whether you believe in it or not makes no difference. It is taboo. It is the rule of our society and you must live by it." Would you agree with them? Explain your answer.
I would agree with them because I could other things to do and it's everyone against me.

Chapter 8

An important theme in this novel is that people should follow their dreams and do what they believe is right, even if they don't follow their society's expected ways. The author examines this theme in a stone age setting.

Imagine a similar situation today. Imagine a young person who wants to do something with their life that is different from what is normally expected in our society.
What situation did you imagine?
I imagine that there's a boy who likes balle.

In the situation you imagined, should the person follow his or her dreams or should they follow society's expectations? Give your opinion.
I think that the boy should follow his dreams because he could soon become rich and famous.

Chapter 9
Why do you think Graybeard changed his mind?
I think Graybeard changed his mind because he wanted a successor and he knew how much Tao likes to draw and paint.
What does this tell you about his character?
I think this tells me that Graybeard empathatic and caring.

Chapter 10

​The mountains-that-walk are mammoths.

Tao was almost gonna be squished to death.

Chapter 11
Do you think Graybeard is a good teacher? Why?
​Graybeard is a good teacher because he's the kind of teacher that can teach you hard skills by making you work hard.
Would you like to have been taught a skill by him? Why?
​Yes because he would push me to learn.

Chapter 12
1. Name some of the ingredients used to make paint. Which surprised you most?
​Fish oil, animal fat, blood, eggs, and honey. I was surprised that Gray beard put fish oil because I thought it was sticky.
2. Why is Tao afraid at the end of the chapter?
​Tao was afraid because Graybeard didn't seem well.

Chapter 13
1. Even if Ram had succeeded in hunting the deer, do you think it was a good idea of Tao's to "show off" his dog's ability to hunt? Explain.
It was a bad idea to show off Ram because the hunters were ready with their spears so they could have hurt Ram. And Volt may have thought that since Ram ran off the deer it was a sign of evil.
2. Predict what will happen next. If you've read ahead, invent an alternate scene.

​I think Volt is going to tell Kala that he saw Tao hunting with a wolf dog and Kala will be ashamed that Tao has broken two taboos.

Chapter 14

1. Why does Tao cross the river?
Tao crosses the river because he was running away from the hunters.
2. What decision does Graybeard reach?
Graybeard decides to let Tao paint and bring the hunters to see his drawings.

Chapter 15
What problem does Tao have by the end of the chapter?
Tao's problem was that he forgot what shoulder Graybeard tapped and didn't know if he was going the right way.

Chapter 17
Wow! What a chapter! What was your reaction? Tense? Surprised? You predicted it? Write a paragraph describing your reaction.

​ The chapter was exciting because Tao defeated the saxon, Graybeard died, and Tao figured out that Volt was his father! Tao defeated the saxon and everyone who ever faced the saxon died ,so he is the only person who has faced the saxon and lived. Graybeard died when Tao needed him most and I know Graybeard was sick ,but who knew that he would die right then. When Tao figured out Volt was his father I bet he was pretty shocked because he hated Volt and now he knows Volt is his father. When you read this paragraph it sounded more like a soap opera than a book.

Chapter 18
Why does Tao feel he needs to go to the Mountain People?

Tao feels that he should cross over to the land of the Mountain people to prove himself again.

Extra Credit
Write a narrative describing what happens next. Make sure your plot has a conflict, a climax, and a resolution. You can add new characters if you want.

Tao crosses over to the Mountain people and they do not think he could prove himself. They do not except him as a shaman let along a chosen one. They banish Tao out of their village and Tao goes away like he doesn't care ,but he is really thinking of a plan to earn their respect. Tao then remembers Graybeard's plan to draw in front of them and decides to do what Graybeard was going to do. He then figures out a path that will allow him to get in their village and where to draw so everyone can see. The next day he follows the path he thought of and as soon as he could see the village in clear sight he sees their leader standing in the middle of the village looking in every direction suddenly Tao then escapes slowly and quietly so he won't see him. He then does the same thing only earlier and he does his plan successfully and draws as fast and quietly as he can once every one wakes up and sees his drawings the leader will say how his drawings look alot like Graybeard's drawings. And will except him as the shaman of all clans ,but then reminds Tao that there are many more clans to earn his respect. The End.
